Boys & Girls Club of Evansville (BGCE) current Youth of the Year, Ai’Zsoni, was named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indiana 2023 STATE YOUTH OF THE YEAR in Indianapolis. Ai’Zsoni had the chance to spend Thursday and Friday with her peers representing counties from across Indiana while competing for the state title in Indianapolis.
In addition to essays, presentations, interviews with the judging panel, the teen participants spent time engaging in dialogue, had a glow dance party, completed a service project and visited the statehouse. Ai’Zsoni represented our Club with her infectious personality, high energy, passion and humor as she stood out among the 16 other youth competing for the State Youth of the Year title.
We could not be more proud of her for using her voice and platform to speak to the challenges facing youth in our community and across the state. Ai’Zsoni will now prepare to represent our state at the regional Youth of the Year competition this summer!
This is the first time in 59 years that our Club has had a Youth of the Year advance to the regional competition. In 1964, Club member, Ed Bassemier, advanced and won the National Youth of the Year title.
This competition in Indianapolis was made possible through our BGCE partnership with Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs. The Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs represents 146 Clubs in 56 Indiana counties and serves 148,675 youth. The Alliance works to combine the capacity of all statewide Boys & Girls Clubs organizations to seek financial support for common programs such as Youth of the Year.
