Quick Facts: Ohio River Vision Progress Updates
- Progress updates to the Ohio River Vision Strategic Plan which includes 50 miles of
riverfront in Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick counties. - Continuing to make the Evansville Region more attractive, healthier, and to leverage
existing investments. - Originated from decades-long calls for improved public access and development
along the riverfront. - Funded by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s READI 1.0 program
and seeking state, federal, and philanthropic support. - Focus on economic growth opportunities, vibrant and connected green spaces,
enhanced amenities, multimodal improvements, and highly desirable destinations
along the riverfront. - Plan includes suggestions for regional cooperation and sustainable conservation
efforts. - Downtowns of Mount Vernon, Evansville, and Newburgh treated with different
planning scales to benefit each community. - Next steps involve the completion of schematic drawings.
- Completion timeline spans 10 to 20 years, with flexibility to adapt to community
desires. - Costs are TBD but require collaborative efforts from various stakeholders.
